Save at least six months of expenses plus the cost of licenses. Consider the turnaround time for payment and ensure you have enough in the bank to cover your costs and living expenses.
- Set KPIs and Structure Your Day
Set yourself KPIs, targets, and goals. Structure your day and be consistent. This helps maintain balance and ensures you're not neglecting any aspect of your business.
- Document Your Journey
Journal your entire experience. This will help you reflect, identify what's working and what's not, and understand how your feelings correlate with your performance.
- Prepare for Challenges
Be aware that you'll want to quit, probably every week for the first couple of years. This journey is hard and not for the faint-hearted. The time investment will be much more than you anticipate.
- Identify Your Unique Selling Point
Understand what sets you apart from competitors. Know your market well, understand its pain points, and offer solutions. Consider picking a niche and sticking to it initially.
Bonus Tip: Outsource "Ten Dollar Tasks"
Outsource tasks that don't directly generate revenue. Focus on activities that build relationships and directly contribute to placements. Consider hiring VAs for tasks like market mapping, formatting resumes, and creating infographics.
