Developing Your Stories

To become a great storyteller, reflect on your life and career year by year:
- What wins have you had?
- What adversity have you faced?
- How have you grown?
- What were your pivotal moments?

Remember, you can also share client and candidate stories.

The Four-Step Hook Strategy

My favorite storytelling strategy for LinkedIn is the four-step hook:

1. Hook your audience
2. Contradict the hook with something unexpected
3. Tell your story
4. Describe the outcome or lesson learned

Example of the Four-Step Hook

Here's an example from one of my highest-performing posts:

1. Hook: "In my first month as an agency owner, I made $38,000."
2. Contradiction: "By the second month, I had $400 to my name."
3. Story: Explain what happened between those two points.
4. Outcome: Share how you turned the situation around.
